Post your best highlights of the day to comments.

A few things stuck out in my mind during the women's workouts,
- The Fernwood team learning how to do the moves just before each workout, then having a red hot crack at it! Mick Shaw doing a superb job of coaching them.
- Kelsey in the first workout was amazing!
- Anna Ryan SDHP a huge percentage of her body weight in Workout 2 and never take a backward step.
- Liz competing with all she had, such a changed person from even just 12 months ago!
- Amanda Chalmers 12kg PB in the deadlift, but knowing when enough was enough, when her form was getting ugly.
I love the team spirit of the whole event, all the guys/girls cheering for each other, and for people they had only just met! I loved how inclusive it was, no matter where you trained, or where you finished, everyone had put in their best, and was being cheered on for the effort!
All things I will remember for a very long time!

Could not have said it better Clay.

Well said Clay
The great spirit of the day, the fun of competing, not being able to touch my face till tues.

Well Put Clay!
Highlights for me were putting all the faces to the names that I see on the forums and them all saying "oooohhhhhhh.... so you're are AJ". Seeing the top competitors in the same heat was incredible too because it really puts your own level of fitness into perspective.
I think I loved to see most of all though was the support everyone gave each other. as corny (always hear it on the footy comentary) as it sounds the atmosphese was electric!

Thanks Matt & Danny for putting on an awesome event!

There was one particular thing that will stick in my mind other than the things that Clay has touched on and that is hearing the massive Whoop Whoop and bear growl from Darren in the warm up area and then seeing him daintily sip his coffee. But aside from that seeing that Rookies wife Renee has now started CrossFitting because of what she saw on the Saturday that is what will stay with me forever. Seeing that someone who has resisted CrossFit for a little while can be so powerfully turned on the back of the camaraderie and friendliness of the CorssFit Community that they saw on the day is AMAZING.

Ok the guys event....
- Heat 1, B-Dog going 50 straight, finishing first. I have to say impressed the hell out of me, seeing him collapse at the end of it made me realize how hard it was going to be!
- Heat 2 (my heat) All the guys in the heat wishing each other well before starting.
Getting to 30 and thinking I had this in the bag, only to hit the wall hard at 41, doing the KB swing and realizing it was a tank emptier.
Hearing 4 min down and thinking I can still make it, Only to find someone stole min 5 - 8.
At 60 with 2 min to go, and barely lifting the KB, well, the writing was on the wall - Simone from CFX thanks helping me get through to 66.
- Watching guys like Micah and Roger just soldier on no matter what!
- Pete and Mick doing 100 straight, which by now, I was sure wasn't possible!
- Disco danny and Matt doing the demos, Gold!
I'm still giggling at Danny offering to draw on nipples for those without.
Now thats team work lol
- Lyndon helping me through WO2, quietly urging me on, thanks bro.
- Jonnie "Big Guns" Larmore, with a 20kg PB, hiding his face as he walked past Matt.
- Of course the Pete and a massive Dead to win it, the total tonnage must have been huge!

HAHA thanks Sharif, cant wait for you to come to Newcastle ;)
Posted by: Darren Coughlan | August 12, 2009 at 10:27 AM
First of all, I have shocked and shocked the big fellar from Newcastle that has done 100reps straght up in the heat 1. He was amazing and I can not believe it. He is not a human, he is like a lifitng machine.
Well done, Pete!!
Second, Dougie is another crossfit machine that i wanna be. 13 rounds he has done in heat 2 were amazing.
The other most important thing is that I am the Only one from estern asia that participated in the game.
Where are other asian crossfitters???
I have never seen any asians in the gym as well.
Well, anyhow, that was great game and I would also like to say thanks for those all who were helping, supporting and cheering me
For Matt and Danny and other trainers, you guys are rock.
I am really proud of our well trained instructors.
All my friends of CFB are the legends.
WEll done guys!!!
any crossfitters in our gym

I realise now the difference between completing a full round and completing a full round and knocking out another 2-3 reps in the last 5-7 seconds - instead of being a pussy thinking that you've given it all your got. I'm for one disappointed that i did that, but learnt a valuable lesson in don't ever put the bar down until they've called time. Just makes me hungrier.....

Awesome programming Matt, Workout one rewarded an all out effort from start to finish and it could be argued that WO 2 punished a similar approach.

seeing people achieve something they thought impossible.
Sharif - correct. crossfitters have something special and finally Renee saw it.
what a magnificent community. proud to be part of it

There are so many comments here that I agree wth that were highlights for me. I loved the atmosphere, the energy, and the fact that we were all there to compete.
However from a personal perspective there was one highlight for me (and I really can't believe this has happened and I am about to put it in black and white).....
..there are worse exercises in Crossfit than burpees. I think I finally get them and and may start enjoying them!
Posted by: Lisa | August 13, 2009 at 07:59 AM
You know lisa, I used to hate them, now I love them too, like 150 isn't so bad ..*eye twicthes....
Oh and yeah they are in the WOD today - Burpees Yeah!!!

I think for me it boils down to the fact that although CrossFit folk are such a competitive bunch by nature, the real competition is always with yourself. It's all about doing your best on the day and going for it! The comradery, support and atmosphere that I witnessed was awesome and was given by all regardless of a competitor's skill and fitness levels.
Those that did place in the final tally are surely impressive - however in my mind anyone that competed is a winner so well done to all!!
I'll definitely be in it next year :)

Was amazing to see some fire-breathers in action. But there was one standout performance on the day for me. I was timekeeping for a guy called Tor from Crossfit Brisbane on the first WOD. I was making a bit of small talk before the workout started and I got the distinct impression he was feeling pretty unconfident. Funny, I kind of knew where he was coming from. Nevertheless, it was 3, 2, 1, go and he picked up the bar and got to work. About 3 minutes in I could tell he was really struggling. But he just would not give up. I screamed myself hoarse telling him to pick the bar up, pick the bar up and he just kept picking it back up and going back for more. We hit 9 minutes and he had 13 reps left to finish all 100. I knew it was going to be close because for the last few sets he had been doing around 5 reps at a time. He then proceeded to pick the bar up a final time and bang out all 13 reps consecutively, and finish the workout with a cool 8 seconds to spare. Torminator, I salute you. :)

Mon and Anna R did CFB proud.
Anna for smashing out WOD 2 even thought the SDHP was a huge percentage of her body weight.
Mon for absolutley perfect form on every Burpee and SDHP for the entire WOD, again the SDHP was a large percentage of your body weight.
Well done girls, it was great to watch!!
