Fitness in 100 words

  • “Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, c&j, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports. ”

RTF

Thanks Whitey. Was a real slogfest today. Welcome Monique to the 5am crew. It feels good to be done when others are just arriving. Is great to see so many RXDs this morning.

Virgil

RTF = Richard the Fireman, and not Roger the Fossil. Correct?

Matt, I think we need a community forum thing so we can put up profiles etc.

Emma Keogh

OMG I could hardly lift my arms to the steering wheel to drive home after that ridiculous amount of pushups :(

Shiela the seat I was in right next to you was pretty damn good too!

Roger aka Fossil

nice one Virg... someone over the weekend mentioned they thought RTF was my nom de guerre and it hadn't ever occurred to me that they were potentially so close. How i wish i could claim Rich's times (nice work this morning RTF). I will use Roger aka Fossil to distinguish myself because there is only one RTF and with a Muscle-up added to his repertoire he is THE "RTF"...

Mon

Thanks RTF !! Congrats on the muscle up too even though I only got a glimpse in my peripherals!

I've been meaning to comment on the sectionals last weekend too... by WOD 3 on Sunday, my other half Michael, helped me realise that my "strategy" the day before of addressing the bar at the start of WOD 1 with feelings of anxiety, fear, and a very strong urge to cry, were probably not going to help me achieve a spot in the top 20 for regionals..... so unfortunately I left it to Sunday to take his advice and start believing in myself a little more... can i just say when you actually do believe for real it makes a huge difference! I also took Wendy's advice on the pump up music. I began my warm up about 30mins before WOD 3 practising technique, whilst listening to some tunes that would make even the most hard core blush and I was fired up and ready to go! The power of music and self belief ! (I know the "Swifts" & Danny may have mentioned that to me once or twice before.....took a while to sink in!!) If I had tapped into a bit of that the day before who knows! So thanks for helping me realise a bit more about myself! Can't wait to attack next year's sectionals with a bucketload of fire in my belly!

There were a number of standout moments over the weekend for me, the second would be competing at the same event as Michael.... I was so proud of his efforts and getting through all the WOD's RXD even though he has only been "addicted" for about 8 weeks now. It's a great feeling to support each other in that type of environment.

The community that has evolved since I started is amazing, everyone is so supportive and encouraging, it's a privelage to train with you all. Thanks to all the volunteers who counted for us and kept us on track over the weekend. Thanks Amanda, Simon and Micah for helping me through :)

Matt, Wendy, Danny & Donna you continue to inspire me to be better not just in training, in life. The standards are always being raised and you are always looking for ways to improve. The sectionals were run without a hitch which would have been a huge effort considering the weather, congratulations on adapting on the fly!

Congratulations to the Queenslanders who made it to regionals and to all the competitors for their determination.

I am super impressed that Drummond's wife was happy to battle through labour alone while he had a bit of an easy jog in the rain for a while :) Congratulations on the birth of your daughter guys :)

I am proud to be part of CrossFit Brisbane.

Anyway.... back to work !
