The Death Alley Barbell Club meets every Friday night from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Each week is a max lifting challenge. Some nights the challenge will be traditional Weightlifting format (ie Snatch and Clean & Jerk under competition conditions) whereas other nights the challenge will be CrossFit style weightlifting (eg ladders and complexes). The goal of the club is to provide the opportunity for CrossFit athletes to lift competitively, be it in formal Weightlifting competitions sanctioned by Australian Weightlifting Federation, in-house friendly Weightlifting meets, or CrossFit style max lifting challenges. Friday night is "Lift Heavy" night!
The Death Alley Barbell Club is an additional membership of $40 per month and you must be a financial CrossFit Brisbane member to be eligible to join. To join the club, or for more information contact Alana via email email@example.com

Friday Evenings 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Do I have to be a member of CFB to join DABC?
Yes. You must be a member of CFB before you can join. This is something extra that we are making available for CFB members that have a specific interest in competitive Weightlifting in addition to their CrossFit training.
I have never done Olympic weightlifting before, can I join DABC?
No. You will be required to have done at least 6 months of Crossfit training prior to joining DABC. Crossfit Brisbane’s normal classes will cover the basics in Olympic weightlifting. Once you’ve completed 6 months training and meet the lifting requirements you are free to join up to DABC. If you have specific things that you want to work on in relation to Weightlifting a good option is to book Personal Training with a trainer.
Are there minimum lifting requirements?
Yes, to join and not get lost you should be be able to meet the following minimum standards:-
Women: 30kg snatch minimum
Men: 45kg Snatch minimum
What can I expect from a Friday night DABC session?
Each week will be a drill and a max lift competition. It will not be a normal class. The goal is to have a heavy hit out under competition conditions. Some nights will be traditional WL style comp and other nights will be CF style comp, eg speed ladder
Do I need to compete?
Yes, but it doesn't have to be scary. Each month we will be running an in-house competition, which we would like every member to experience. A few of these in-house competitions may coincide with the QLD club championships series. We will be encouraging all members to compete, but the way they elect to compete will vary from friendly in-house comps to official AWF sanctioned comps depending on personal preferences.
Will I need to be a member of QWA?
Yes, you will need to be a registered member of the Queensland Weightlifting Association. Go to www.qwa.org to register. The cost is $60 per year. One of the goals of the club is to enter official comps and have an official total. Joining QWA is also how we support the sport of WL.
How do I join?
