We have an awesome team of trainers that specialise in coaching CrossFit. We believe that CrossFit coaching is very different to Personal Training or Bootcamp, so we only employ trainers that are dedicated to the CrossFit method, and that have the necessary skills and experience to effectively coach CrossFit in a group environment. Importantly, we believe that CrossFit trainers should lead by example. Our trainers are seasoned CrossFitters and are expected to “walk the walk”.
Garath Thomas Garath is co-owner of CrossFit Brisbane and a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1). He started his CrossFit journey in 2014, as accessory training to competitive endurance sport, but it wasn't long before CrossFit took centre stage. With over thirteen years in the service industry, Garath has a passion for developing team environments where people are provided with opportunities to reach their full potential. He takes his role as head of acquisition seriously, believing it his responsibility to bring "cool stuff" into the gym for people to play with.
Tennille ThomasTennille is co-owner of CrossFit Brisbane and a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1). She started her CrossFit journey in 2014 and is passionate about a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. With a background in the Performing and Visual Arts as a secondary school teacher, Tennille experiences great joy coaching and inspiring the youth of today to live healthy and active lives though the Teens and Kids programmes. When not here, she can be found wrangling her cheeky daughter and trialling out alternative recipes on anyone willing to ‘give them a go’.
Asher SteeleAsher is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer (CF-L2) and holds a CF Kids Certificate, a L1 Weightlifting Coaches Certificate, has completed the CF Gymnastics and Masters course, and is currently studying Psychological Science. He started his CrossFit Journey with us after leaving the Military, and has been coaching since 2014. Asher is an experienced competitor having competed at Regionals in the team competition. He is like a quiet assassin and you will always find him setting the pace in the WOD.
Toa Faataape Toa is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) and holds a CF Kids Certificate and CF Weightlifting Certificate. He is a footy lad, playing Rugby League for many years until CrossFit took first place back in 2016. Toa now gets his team ‘fix’ building up our Teens and Kids into strong young adults. He is the first to fire up our community with his enthusiasm!
Alba FeelyAlba is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer (CF-L2) and holds a CF Kids Certificate and CF Weightlifting Certificate. She has over 12 years experience in the fitness industry. Alba brings big energy and passion to the team, and is motivated by seeing people achieve things they never thought possible. She is the proud parent of two children and twenty-three pairs of shoes.
Lucas BarbosaLucas is a Certified CrossFit Level 3 Trainer (CF-L3) and a level 1 AWF Club Weightlifting / Sports Power Coach. He has also been part of the judging team at the CrossFit Regionals and Invitational events and is great at spotting a 'no rep'. Originally from Brazil, Lucas’ CrossFit journey started in 2014 after moving to Australia. He brings a high standard of care to the team, and loves to see people improve.
Thomas WoodThomas is a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer (CF-L2) and has completed seminar courses for Weightlifting and Gymnastics. He started CrossFit in 2014 as a teen and joined the coaching team in 2019. Thomas has also been involved in judging the Torian Pro, the All-Stars Competition and the Down Under CrossFit Championship. He’s the young pup who keeps the big dogs honest in every WOD.
Matilda ThomasWhile Matilda has no CrossFit qualifications, she is the real boss of CrossFit Brisbane. Her steely stare is a motivator for all to perform at their absolute best. She loves movement of all kinds, especially when associated with music, and tells the tallest tales you’ll ever hear.
